Boondox

David Hutto, better known as Boondox, is an American rapper who brought a killer scarecrow persona to the indie rap scene, becoming the first Southern artist signed to the iconic label Psychopathic Records. Hailing from Richmond, Georgia, and raised in Covington, Hutto’s distinctive style blends Southern twang, banjos, and harmonicas with dark, rap-rock beats. Before adopting the Boondox moniker, he played bass guitar in local rock bands and distributed underground tapes with Southern Hustlas, Inc. His break came when one of his tapes reached Insane Clown Posse, leading to his debut album, The Harvest, in 2006. Known for his hillbilly getup and macabre themes, Boondox continued to evolve with releases like Krimson Creek (2008), which topped the Billboard Heatseekers chart, and South of Hell (2010), his highest-charting album. After a brief stint away from the persona, including projects as Turncoat Dirty and with the Underground Avengers, Boondox returned with Abaddon (2014) and later transitioned to Majik Ninja Entertainment, releasing The Murder (2017). Boondox remains a unique voice in the underground rap scene, blending horrorcore with Southern flair to create a truly distinctive sound.
