Big Yavo

Birmingham, Alabama’s Big Yavo embodies the essence of self-made success, having risen from the city’s west side without co-signs or industry shortcuts. In just two years of rapping, he has built a name through standout video singles like “No Pen,” “Shawn Kemp,” and “Freestyle,” showcasing his charismatic presence and refusal to compromise. “Nobody made it before in my part of town,” he says, acknowledging his unprecedented rise while remaining hungry for more. After dropping three full-length projects with Cinematic Music Group in 2020 alone, Yavo continues to evolve, experimenting with new flows to stay ahead. “There’s a lot of people that got my old Yavo sound down pat. I’m going different ways with it the further I go,” he shares. Raised in one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S., he learned how to move wisely to survive, witnessing firsthand the realities he raps about. As Alabama’s rap scene gained attention, Yavo felt the need to bring something fresh, stepping into the spotlight with an authentic voice that represents the under-covered neighborhoods of his hometown.
