Big Hit

Big Hit, a Pasadena native, has turned a life of challenges into a story of resilience and triumph. Growing up between the contrasting worlds of a devout Jehovah’s Witness mother and a father who lived the “gangster” lifestyle, Big Hit’s love for hip-hop began in the late ’80s as a sharp-tongued battle rapper in neighborhood sessions. However, his hustler ambitions were derailed by multiple run-ins with the law, leading to 20 years in prison. Upon his release, he launched his rap career with tracks like “Grindin’ My Whole Life” and “G’z Don’t Cry,” only to face another 9-year incarceration. Now free and with a renewed sense of purpose, Big Hit is collaborating with his son, 3X Grammy-winning producer Hit-Boy, on hard-hitting tracks like “Reckless & Ratchet,” “Grindin’ My Whole Life, Pt. 2,” and “Take Some Off Of That.” With his debut solo album, The Truth Is In My Eyes, Big Hit is channeling his determination and talent to solidify his place in hip-hop history.
